How Driveway Pressure Cleaning Enhances Orlando Homes
July 01, 2025Getting a Driveway Clean and Keeping It That Way
A driveway is usually the largest thing anyone sees when they pull up to your house. It is also the surface that collects the most and gets cleaned the least.
What is actually on it
- Algae and mildew. The green-black film, worst in shade.
- Oil and transmission fluid. Soaks into the pores rather than sitting on top.
- Rust. From sprinkler water or anything metal left standing.
- Tyre marks. Rubber left behind by turning wheels.
- Leaf and berry stains. Tannins from whatever grows overhead.
Each of those needs a slightly different approach, which is why a single pass with a wand rarely does it.
Why a surface cleaner matters
A wand cleans in an arc, so you get stripes. A surface cleaner spins the water under a housing and covers the concrete evenly.
If a quote is unusually cheap, this is often the difference. A striped driveway looks worse than one nobody touched.
Oil needs a degreaser, not more pressure
Oil is inside the concrete, not on it. Water pressure lifts what has already been loosened, so a degreaser goes on first and gets time to work.
Fresh spots usually disappear. Old ones fade a long way, and a full wash blends whatever shadow is left into an even surface.
Pavers are different
Pavers need less pressure than poured concrete, because too much blasts the sand out of the joints. The sand then needs replacing, which is a job in itself.
Keeping it clean
- Deal with drips when they happen rather than months later
- Sweep leaves off instead of letting them sit and stain
- Point sprinklers away from the concrete if they are leaving rust
- Plan on a wash once a year, twice under heavy tree cover
